Here is some personal information
My name is Roy Gould and I live in
Meridian, Idaho. I was born in Council, Idaho in 1940. After
graduating from Council High School in 1958 I enrolled at the University of
Idaho at Moscow. I received my BS in Electrical Engineering in 1963.
After graduation I accepted a job at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico
working as an Electronics Engineer. After my retirement from WSMR in
1995, I and my wife Mary Ann moved to Meridian. Our two sons live
nearby in Boise.
I am a high-tech person and like to try out the latest
electronic gadgets.
 |
Computers - I took my first computer class in 1962 while
studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Idaho at Moscow,
Idaho. I studied analog computer programming in this class.
Analog computers are very different from modern digital PC's. |
 |
Amateur Radio - I earned my Novice license (WN7IDM) in 1957 while
a Junior in High School. After moving to El Paso, Texas I was
assigned the call sign of W5PAG. After I passing the Amateur Extra exam
in 1972 I applied for and received that call sign N5RG.
After moving back to Idaho, I applied for and got my Idaho call sign
back---W7IDM. Over the years I have been interested in DXing, repeaters,
Amateur Radio communications satellites, and packet
radio. |
 |
Genealogy - Several years ago I became interested in the
genealogy of my family. I learned quite a bit about my fathers
family from my father and his brothers, John and Lester. My Aunt Lucille Randolph had spent many
years researching my mother's family and she shared her information with me. |
 |
Music - I took piano lessons while I was in High School.
I am not an accomplished pianist by any means, but I like to
experiment with electronic music by combining a keyboard with a
computer. |
 |
Writing - I like to write technical articles and over the
years have had several articles published in various magazines. |
 |
Electronics - Beginning in High School I have enjoyed
experimenting with various electronic circuits and the like. |
 |
Creationism - In my early years I went along with the
Theory of Evolution. But later on I began to see some serious
scientific problems with it. I eventually concluded that from a
scientific point of view evolution could not have happened and that
the creation story in Genesis makes more sense. |
